About the Conference
 
Each February, the BCCA and the FCC hold an annual linked conference to discuss shared themes of interest, honour our industry and leaders and create amazing networking opportunities for industry professionals and sponsors. It is a very well attended event with high representation of camps from province-wide.

The 2012 BC Camping Conference theme is "Back to Basics. Moving Forward". For over 100 years, camps have been one of those instrumental and remarkable places where kids could become immersed in the basics of constant play, experiential learning, adventure seeking, lasting friendships, conecting with nature and most importantly, having fun.
Today it seems our modern commiunity thrives on anything instant where entertainment is confused with play, learning is most likely instructed through a screen, adventure is enclosed in a child's backyard,friendships are forged through social media and connecting with nature is defined by visiting a city park.
Our industry needs to move forward, adapt and evolve not just to survive but because we are now in the best possible position to grow our industry by focusing on the basics of what we do so well.
