ABOUT CAMP POTLATCH
Located on 133 acres along the picturesque shores of Howe Sound, Camp Potlatch is a rustic wilderness site that provides a natural gateway into the rugged landscape of British Columbia’s South Coast. Sandy beaches and unspoiled hiking territory create an idyllic environment to work, explore and play! Even though it is less than an hour from Vancouver, the camp is truly isolated in pristine wilderness and is only accessible by boat. Wildlife sightings include – but are not limited to – whales, seals, porpoises, bears, and bald eagles! Adventure starts here!
ABOUT THIS POSITION
Camp Potlatch is looking for fall staff! The Fall Outdoor Centre season starts at the end of our summer season in the last week of August. Preference for fall staff will be given to applicants with previous Outdoor Centre experience. These positions require experienced and mature camp professionals. Applicants must also have reliable transportation to and from Porteau Cove Provincial Park or Britannia Beach for the start and end of each work week.
JOB DUTIES
Camp Potlatch Outdoor Camp Leaders work a mix of program delivery, kitchen duties, maintenance, and general cleaning of the site. Under the supervision of the Camp Director and Outdoor Centre Coordinator, Outdoor Centre staff are responsible for the following:
· Leading program activities, including Canoeing, Kayaking, Rock Climbing, Hikes, Archery, Team Building, Group Games, Campfires.
· Cleaning of camp facilities (including washrooms, cabins, common areas, and program spaces).
· Assisting the Camp Cook with kitchen duties including meal prep, meal service, dishes, and kitchen closing.
· Maintenance and facility tasks as assigned by Camp Director
REQUIREMENTS
- Clear Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector).
- Staff must be at least 19 years of age
- Standard First Aid with CPR “C”
- National Lifeguard Certification
- FOODSAFE Level 1
- Previous camping experience
- Previous experience working with children and youth
Outdoor Centre staff are provided with room and board while on-site and are required to work a flexible schedule determined by Outdoor Centre rental bookings.
